You live and learn I suppose. I aways ask the customer if they want to keep the 'rubbish' myself but I think the customer in question has gone way over the top here. Whether or not she's in the right to with-hold payment because of what's happened I'm not sure but maybe it would be best to put this down to experience and not upset the woman any further, sounds like she could absolutely ruin his reputation if he does.

Maybe she hasn't gone over the top, she had one weapon to use to have her property returned, it doesn't matter what value as far as she is concerned the bag was hers.

Also to use that one weapon she had very limited time, she could not let that cheque clear, probably a smart woman who knows reporting what she sees as a theft may not be taken seriously by the police.

Sometimes we have to think like the customer not so hard to do because we are all consumers ourselves.

I had to drain down a CWSC a few weeks ago, the customer made me save all the water. Fair enough it's 2013 and a vital commodity.

Except for the fact I had to lug all the buckets back into the attic and refill when I'd finished. Some people have nothing else to do in my opinion.

Tell me you're kidding.

i would have said that if they wanted the water putting back in the cwst, they would be the best person to do it.

To be honest, I couldn't bring myself to tell her to sod off, she was an old dear. She kept telling me how much water cost and how much we waste it. I just get on with it, anything for an easier life

How did you empty the cistern in the first place?

Turned the isolator off in the attic, and opened the bath tap. Kept filling buckets because she didn't want the water wasted. Thought she might want it for the garden, but sadly, no

Where you on price or hourly ?

On the books luckily, and we do a lot of work for her. Some people are just set in their ways I suppose.

Set in their ways or not, this request is absurd and there's no way I'd have done it. I'd have said the water was contaminated or something like that.

I hate weird requests like this, I once had a women who asked me to walk around upstairs on my hands and knees as she didnt like footprints on the carpet.

Absolute nonsense, I told her health and safety said I couldn't.

Im sure some people just have nothing better to do.

i had a funny one the other day i look after a flat that belongs to an old friend irttts currently let out to a russian couple who speak reasonable english or so i thought
the problem wqas the lights kept tripping and the cause was water coming down the out side of a bit of 4 inch into the bathroom fan as the roof is the freeholders responsibility i removed the fan and taped the wiring back oput of harms way as iwas up the ladder i past it to the russian and asked him to keep it safe
when the roof was fixed i went back to refit the fan and he had thrown it away obviouisly lost in translation

I would have said, no problem at all. That's an hours worth of labour to save the water for you love then please. £25+VAT if you would be so kind.

Sure they wouldn't want to save the water any more after that!

She was just testing if you would before getting the full rubber suit out.
