I've been finding strange ones - like ones you'd thought wouldn't freeze, freezing up. One guys tonight that I fitted, literally has a 1 1/2" elbow coming out the wall into a downspout with no open end, in sheltered spot and that's froze 🤯 Guess no amount of big pipe and insulation will stop a drip freezing at -8.

Evident the ones that drip, like the Baxis, EcoFits (Glow Worms) and Ideals seem to freeze up more. I've not had any issues with Plus or Pros yet, or some of the newer Worcesters.

Yep had one that literally drops straight down for 12” and that froze east upsell for insulation having to insulate kitchen sinks as well one froze because of a dishwasher some how

I’m jealous, I’m on call, started yesterday as mate needed a swap, 14 jobs last night 16 tonight.

Just in the evening ? Or do you clock off ?

Little gravity to invent swap ignore the wiring temp found that many junction boxes in the loft easier to rewire in jan

Had a customer on the phone to me today, I couldn't get to fix their worcester se oil combi due to the mother in law dying.
They got somebody else in, heating was fine, no hot water.

So they've been charged £765.00 for pump, diverter head, diverter body and 5 visits.

After first visit they changed head, hot water worked, no heating but only found out after they went.

Second visit was told it was an air lock. Still no heating.

Third visit, fitted a new pump. Still no heating.

Fourth visit new diverter body. Heating and hot water worked for 24hrs.

Fifth visit, airlock and high limit tripped.

The total bill included the 5 visits at £65 a pop.

They asked what I thought about it.

I said for one thing, I need to up my prices and two they didn't have a clue.

Big company round my way as well.

Nice easy kitchen tap replacement until that decided it didn’t want to be on the pipe no more due to not being soldered and being in an l unit in the corner ffs

Message over the weekend, old oil Beta not working, no power to it.
Gets there this afternoon, fuse spur OK, power at timer and pump runs.
Boiler as dead as a fart.
Incoming power cable goes through case and round back of boiler, grabs cable and gently pull.
Hey presto end of cable not wired in anywhere. (Bearing in mind I fitted a new motor on the burner two weeks before Christmas and it was all good when I left).
Cable not pulled out as all in good condition and ready to be wired back in.

Nobody had touched it, according to customer.

But it didn't unwire itself.

Strange.

I went on a course years ago, and the only thing that stuck with me was 'The general public are liars and never believe what they tell you'. Mr invisible must have removed it.
