Hi all, . I have been out this week to carry out a gsc and had to cap the gas meter leaving no heating and hot water. I am due to do my unvented on 8th October an Having not been involved in any installations before I am unsure of the best cylinder to quote for. any advise would be grateful .Thanks Mark

What a strange post!

It would seem that you for whatever reason that the only work you have done this week
is capped of someone's gas meter and left them without heating or hot water.

In about three weeks or so you intend to go back to fit an unvented cylinder to give hot water.

How do you propose to heat the cylinder with no gas?

The best cylinder to quote for can only be a direct type as this would not rely on gas to be heated.

Hope this reply is useful and we have a warm winter.

Thanks for your reply heliotrope, Today was a very warm day in Liverpool !! .The flat is not yet tenanted and will not be till the apartment has electric heating and hot water . First job tomorrow is to buy some more meter caps as I am going through them at a rate of 1 per year !!. I was only asking for some useful information that might help me to chose the right brand of cylinder, due to the reasons I have given in my "strange post".

Low cost but good quality - Plumbcentre own brand (centrebrand) direct unvented.

High end - the sky is your limit!

Just a couple of things to be aware of,

is the working pressure and flow rate upto the job?

Can you softly terminate the discharge pipe work?

RM Stelflow, or Main UV. Both good value. Obviously Megaflow if money is no object

Or the matching cylinder brand to the boiler if you prefer a one-stop-shop.
