I've fitted a new mixer tap to the bathroom wash basin. I was maybe a bit too gentle tightening the back nut and now having plumbed it all, I find the mixer can turn. Didn't want to take apart again, so bought an adjustable basin wrench. whilst it reaches, because of the moulded recess underneath, there is not sufficient space for the spanner to locate. Any suggestions on how I might tighten it without having to `un-plumb'?

spanner

That's not terribly helpful. I'm trying to save money, as had a difficult couple of years.

There are special box spanner sets for tightening nuts, try ebay or toolstation/screwfix

cheaper to call a plumber than buy a set of Armegs :) most decent plumbers carry an assortment of tools to do the job first time round, diy can work but often leads to these problems, sometimes just step back, know your limits and get the expert in. ÂŁ40 spent on a plumber can end loads of heart ache, and you get them back if they cock up foc

Mono-block basin mixer ! need deep socket-extension bar and ratchet, cost you more to buy than calling someone out, and less chance of over tightening & cracking basin.

Thanks for everyone's input. The main problem is the moulded recess the nut sits in. This makes it difficult to get any kind of wrench onto the nut. I don't mind buying tools - might cost a bit more than a plumber, but I have the legacy of ownership in case I need it again. Yes, it is a monoblock design like a kitchen mixer. Luckily, it is also a brass nut.

Could you post a picture of the underneath of the basin showing the recess etc?
7" Footprint grips are a handy tool for awkward jobs. The type with knurled nut giving full adjustment are excellent

I thought the OP was talking about the single large nut type.
If it's the nut & bolt type, it's easy

I am not sure myself a pic would help .you could be right it could be a monoblock with the large back nut like a normal tap.
