Discuss Thermal imager- What do you use? in the Plumbing Jobs | The Job-board area at PlumbersForums.net

At that price im confident its well and truely up to the job, im looking at anything thats mentioned but unfortunately i wont be spending that sort of money, the wife would have something to say ;)

They are great fun and in the right circumstances work like magic but unless you specialise in leak detection and thermal surveys you may find it is difficult to make one earn its keep.

They have the same calibration issue as contactless spot-temperature probes, i.e. different materials have different albedos. Also, get one that allows you to superimpose visible and thermal images easily. Without this it's difficult to figure out what you're looking at.

You can hire them for ca £75 per day or twice that per week if you have a job that you think needs one. I'd strongly recommend doing this before buying one as the novelty factor soon wears off and they ain't exactly cheap.
