Hi, I've had to stop the water at the stop tap due to a leak. Can I continue to use the central heating?

I'm assuming you've turned off the incoming cold water mains stoptap. If so then yes, you can continue using your boiler.

Where is the leak?

Try isolating the incoming supply on boiler. You can use the water in the rest of the house then. Look under boiler and look for brass service valves. Post a pic and we can tell you which one. Might need a screwdriver or a spanner, some switch by hand

Ok all might be not lost ...you have turned. Your cold water supply off...you maybe ok to use your heating ..tell us what system. Expand on why you have had to close your water main off.
We are quite good on here ... centralheatking

We are from Alberta, and I own an electrical company. I have been asked by a BC Mechanical P. Eng. to install an emergency STOP button at the man-door to the boiler room. It's intent is to 'halt' the operation of the boilers in the room should there be an emergency. He is demanding that I do...

Hi all I'm hoping someone can shine a light on this for me Since our stop tap on the pavement has now been filled with sand for whatever reason, we are relying on our property fitted stopcock (this is outside on our garage wall) Unfortunately turning this to the closed position only reduces...
