Hi. My first post here, hoping to get some expert advice.

I have a toilet which is constantly filling. The fill valve isn't shutting the water off properly, and I have dismantled it, cleaned it but all to no avail. I decided the best option was to replace it. I bought a new fill valve from Wickes but apart from now discovering I need to buy the ball float separately :-( I think I probably need a special kit because the cistern is quite small and the existing valve and ball seem to be much smaller than any others I have see. I am posting a picture of the current set up. Can someone tell me if I need something "specialist" or just how to proceed?

Many thanks

You should proceed straight back to Wickes before they shut and get the correct type valve. There are many different makes to choose from.

i agree with destroyer and it looks like a fluidmaster bottom entry valve should fit (you may need to play around with it's angle if the float catches.) if you're not very experienced it might also be worth buying the pro version with a brass thread on the bottom to make sure you don't cross thread connecting to the supply.

Thanks for this and for the other suggestions. I went back to Wickes and bought a Fluidmaster.

Thanks again
