lame plumber

ok oilies, whats a suitable replacement burner for a Boulter economy 50/70 (50-20.5kw) that currently has a riello443t57,(mectron style) a R40 G3 is too powerful at24kw in my mind so do i go for a rdb5070, which is slightly larger but theres b all room to fit the rdb in as it may well foul on the floor!! as its larger than an R40. Only asking as I normally repair the blighters but this one is a relic and just died and the old boy dont want a new boiler, so trying to help him out.

You want a G3RK, goes down to 15kw.

24kw is just at the bottom of the G3's range.

saw that one in the riello tech page, where to get one HWOS only shows the R40G3 cheers my little Haggis :)

Contact them and they will be able to speak to Riello, who will make one up for you.
You can still get them to make really obscure old burners like the G7 I think, they are pretty good like that.

gonna have a go with a rdb 1, run it at 20kw and pop a 105/84 burner tube on to match the one on the one coming out, as long as it fits over the front step and it gives a zero smoke and runs as per burner tech instructions cant see its an issue to swap models having chatted to my mentor, he is really old :).

Stick an eogb x400 on. I bought 3 from hwos 2 weeks ago for ÂŁ205 each ( they're going to the Bentones). 80mm blast tube

probably get one for van stock, the old boy now is happy to pay less for a 2nd hand burner as he is selling up soon

I have a brand new Sterling burner, just if anyone has a burner that will cost too much to be viable.
I don't seem to get a job for it because I usually repair burners no bother, or use second hand burners where suitable.

I want your burner, wacked in the 2nd hand burner, came out of a good working boiler 2 months back, and it wouldnt fire up mutter mutter. So took a 2nd control box off another fm van, fired her up, set up co2 and pressure and all was dandy. off to next job happy custard, got home at 7-30, call re burner, stopped working only fires up for 5 seconds then locks out, cant be flue or wouldnt have set up ok, fuel was ok as it trundled away for 35 mins before I left, so thinking solenoid gone or photocell, back there tomorrow night. wish I had bought a new burner now!!

Another question, how does blast tube affect boiler, I presume its down to effciency etc and a smaller one cant do any harm, being its a very simple old boiler, box n 3 flat baffles!

Love em and hate em, seems oil boilers are a doddle to get going or theres always one that gets you thinking, I might double check the tank for water as well
