I wonder what would happen if i go round merchants asking for freebies.....

I honestly don't understand how anyone in there right mind would pay thousands of pounds for work that hadn't been started yet, you'd think alarm bells would ring when the builder asks for twenty or thirty grand or so before he starts the job,

whenever i have work done, i pay for materials and their daily rate.....never would i pay vast amounts of money at one go...

Is Melinda messenger still on that? I'd give her any freebie she wanted!
i had to stop watching the program, Dominic littlewood pushes my blood pressure up. The man drives around the country looking for the cowboy giving it the big I am, then when he finds them he does bugger all. Hate his little ratty eyes too!

That's it, big jobs should be set out with stage payments and time schedules, obviously some materials up front,

Melinda with her nice everything would sway me to do anything for her. Publicity is also what the suppliers want. I do think it is ridiculous that she goes asking for free everything. Why should a merchant give freebies to someone who is stupid enough to pay a cowboy builder too much?
I bet Melinda gets plenty of money for doing that show. She should be told to pay out her money.

Melinda has wicked dodes, and Dom has some cheek with being an ex criminal ( cat burglar )

If I paid 30 grand up front, and he done a bad job or a runner; the last thing he'd need to worry about is being taken to court.

it always amazes me how bad builders get paid in front and good ones get knocked I supose the dodgy builder recognizes the dodgy customers and doesnt work for them and vice versa

It's laughable isn't it. Dom's an ex burglar and convicted car ringer, their builder (John) went bust owing every merchant within ten miles of us a fortune (6 point something million in total) and then there's Alastair Stewart doing the police camera action videos who's been banned for drink driving.

I think it's the old trick of making people think you're bigger and better than what you are.

Builder round here as stung all the merchants over the years and also stung plenty of customers including me for 700 quid. He drives a convertible Jag, wears a flat cap and scarf round his neck whilst driving, when he turns up to price work he looks like hes already minted, last thing anyone would suspect is that he ain't got a pot to pi55 in and everything he has is in his wife's name.

He's moved his business and trade to Bolton now,so look out anyone over there as he can't get anyone to work for him round here.

Ooh who is it? Not lynchey by any chance??

U from Bolton DM ?? He still lives over here but I see him now driving a van sign written with Bolton numbers plus his own. He's not called lynchey.

Im not from Bolton, but I'm there most days, it used to be my DrainDoctor area. I do at least a job a day for a firm in Tonge now.

Flat cap, scarf, jag. Is it inspector morse?

I always wonder if they get a number of estimates in then went for the lowest then they moan when all the extras come in, cheapest estimate doesn't mean cheapest job.

I would never pay someone thousands if the development wasn't moving forward. But then I suppose being a trades person it would be harder to make a fool of.
