Hello

Never fitted a Heat Bank before but customer wants one, Personally i don't see the point as they are only have a gas boiler as heat source
Usually i would just install a decent unvented cylinder and a system boiler

the one they are looking at is Xcel DS 300 3 from Specflue

Does anyone know if they are any good? Should i try and push them towards an Unvented system? though i think they already been convinced to install the heatbank system

I can see the benefit of installing one if they had biomass/solar etc but for a Gas boiler i don't see the point

Any Advice Appreciated

Thanks

Hello Matt
I think you know the answer to this one! Heat Banks are great when using two or more heat sources. When using a modulating gas boiler with thermostatic control I can see little point going to the expense of installing it. It is quite a bit more expensive to purchase compared to say a 250L unvented cylinder and more expensive to fit. Are they planning to have another heat source added to the heat bank?
Providing there is adequate pressure and flow, an unvented cylinder would seem the better option.

Cheers

John
