Hello gents,

We have a Glow worm 60FF Micro - which makes boiling noises only when the hot water is on. My expertise is limited so please take it easy with technical info.

The 60FF did make this noise about a month ago but it stopped after a few days.

Any test I can do to find out exactly which part might need attention?

Could it be anything to do with APS? This boiler has very easy access to the APS and looks easy to swap. There is also a cap on top of the boiler which a tube goes back to the APS. Does that cap need to be taken off or anything to adjust the pressure?

I do WD40 the extractor fan once every 2 years. I had it Serviced about 2 months.

Any help would be much appreciated

Ben

Welcome along. Not meaning to sound harsh you clearly don't understand how your boiler works and I would say you are way off in your diagnosis. Not only that but more importantly you are not Gas Safe so to dabble with ANY component in the boiler is illegal and potentially fatal if you've removed the cover. Do you and your family a favour and get a gas Safe engineer out to sort it as you are seriously putting your life at risk by messing about with something you don't understand. Please read the forum rules re DIY gas as you will not get advice

Thanks Riley. No offence at all. As I have mentioned the APS looks easy to replace but that is as far as I would have gone. The impression I got was replacement of the APS like for like would be straight forward.

Out of interest what do you think the problem is?? Obviously not the APS. :)

Most likely kettling which means sludge in the system so boiler is struggling g to circulate the water before the water overheats

Christ! Are you really trying to kill yourself?

DO NOT TOUCH THE APS! IT IS A CRITICAL SAFETY PART. Equally stop squirting the fan.

call in a competent gsr and stop messing about with something you don't understand!
