this summer is killing me, not enough work... customers going for cheapest quotes... and the icing on the cake is my van being written off while it was parked on street and being offered a crappy pay out!!

Close to packing it in and going to get a job for someone else seriously not loving working for myself at the moment and wondering if it's worth all the hassle and stress?

TBH just seen some rates online for site work 250-300 a day

But I would say hang in there mate

Don`t get me started on insurance companies paying up. Feel your pain mate.

Wow, the 250-300 rates would do to me... no stress with customers, ordering materials, dealing with problems everyday. Just in and out at work but having decent money it's sound too good to be true.

Needed to vent earlier, feel better after a few beers :D Think I'll get a lease van, don't think I'll get a decent transit size Van for £3k ? Could get a LwB vivaro new for £240 month including road tax and VAT...

We all do need to sometimes that's what we're here for

Have you tried some auctions about the van ? You may be lucky

Dunno, my 10 year old transit (r.i.p) cost me about £2k in maintenance past 2 years, least won't have those issues with leasing and get new van every few year ...

Gutted for you bud i had the same happen to me 2 summers ago the day before i went on holiday i got hit by a lorry , it messed me up for over a month till i got it sorted got £2600 but had spent £1500 on it weeks before so was worth alot more to me i had to pay £5k to get something decent , work wise i am stacked and have more work than i can handle i guess its all depends on where you live and trade in the country good luck kop

The reality is next to no one will be earning that. It will be price work and not a day rate.

I agree though, hang in there. Working for yourself can be extremely challenging at times but also very rewarding.

Classed as a total loss for this !!! I'm disputing it though

I can earn £225 as part of a 2 man one a day heating team, work bum off for it though, knocked contract back in January because I was flat out busy !
