Hey guys,

I'm a 26 year old with some experience in plumbing but no qualifications. I want to get them under my belt and I've found that the two best qualifications are the C&G 6035/6189. I'm just wondering in your opinion what the difference is between them and if there are any pre requisites and which course I should really be going for.

Thanks
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie & welcome to the forum.
Are you working as a plumber at the moment ? it makes a different's to which one as one is an NVQ & the other is not.

Hi Chris,

I'm not working as plumber yet but employers have been telling me I should be looking at the 6189 because it's the NVQ. Not really sure what they mean by this as I though the 6035 had just as much hands on experience.

Only an NQV is recognized in industry, so if you want to change jobs it's the 6189 that you will be asked for.

I've been reading up on it all, and apparently it is indeed the NVQ you will need. Contact your local college for more info!

Although saying that, there is also a [DLMURL="http://www.cityandguilds.com/Courses-and-Qualifications/building-services-industry/plumbing/6129-plumbing-studies"]certificate (6129)[/DLMURL] which apparently teaches you the core stuff that can help you when doing the NVQ, however, if you already have experience, it's probably beyond you, check it out anyway.
