as above, do you need to get a specialist in to remove it...or take it off plonk it outside go in for 5mins and return to find the scrappy has had it already!!!

option 2 sounds good :)

how do you know that asbestos is present? End of day if it is then its the Custards problem not yours surely?

A friend of mine has told me eon have been round and condemned it and have asked me to quote on it so just wanted to know where I stand on the asbestos thing.

Have a read of this mate

http://www.hse.gov.uk/gas/landlords...to-contain-asbestos-containing-appliances.pdf

as far as I'm aware if its just rope seals and things like that we can just make the asbestos wet and remove it, then double bag it and take it to the tip.

Not sure where we stand on flues and pipe lagging etc, but if it can removed in one piece without damaging it, them maybe we can remove it??

I wouldnt personally like to touch any asbestos though :)

The problem is that to follow the correct procedures you need the correct equipment really. If the seals are internal then remove the appliance whole and get an asbestos removal firm to pick it up. Or disconnect it and ask them to remove it off the wall. You have then covered yourself legally by contracting an approved contractor.

The question is what should I do, not what can I get away with doing.

It's a ideal concord wrs....waiting on a gc number...anyone know?

I think so, remove it whole and double bag it as long as you dont disturb the seals you are fine. asbestos companies charge around ÂŁ250 to remove from wall but less to just collect

dont sniff it in!

in fact my scrappie will remove it for me as he is a licensed waste carrier!!
