I've looked through manufacturers book and searched the internet but have struggled to find out what the F5 fault might be?

The boiler model is Vitodens 100

Any help or ideas would be gratefully received

Thanks

F5 is usually to do with the fan, check the cables and plugs and the fan itself.

F5 is air pressure switch fault check it and leads and replace if nescessary , they are quite cheap.

For anyone who may search this in the future, there is a common fault on the Vitodens that brings up an F5 fault. In the fan outlet there is 'flapper valve' which is designed to pevent water ingress when not working...it sticks. When this happens (regularly) it will give you an F5 fault.

It can be removed cleaned and lubed which will rectify it for a while, but, in our experience it's a matter of time before it sticks again. We have been told by someone within Veissman that their engineers quite regularly remove the 'flapper' bit and throw it away. You do need to leave the rest of the valve in place though as it forms a gas tight seal.

Ring Viessmann tech support. As said by ultimate it's the flap on the fan outlet, i was told about this during Viessmann training course but can't remember what they said to do to rectify.

Their advice is to clean thoroughly and apply a smear of oil to the pivot point, have done this in the past and it works for a while. The best fix in my opinion is to replace the valve...except at some point it will probably start sticking!

Excellent, it was always a matter of time until they resolved this one.

When I phones viesmann about this they told me to cut the rubber off.

Yeah, I've heard that one too. Supposedly there's a Viessmann-produced technical bulletin on this, but I'd be loathed to it cut it away without it being in writing from manufacturer.

I understand there's no fan flap on the newer models.

The first Dover models will should be coming out of warranty. Think they hit the market in 2004-5. We put some in our stock starting in 2005.

I fitted a vitodens 100 in my own house, had the same problem with the F5 fault constantly called their engineer he used talcum powder on the flap. Out of the goodness of their hearts they sent me a free vitodens 100, fortunately for me my neighbour spotted it and wanted me to sell it to him. Every part in his boiler has been replaced by Viessman 3 times now. I took mine of the wall and replaced it with a Worcester 30cdi......My neighbour no longer talks to me lol

I had this fault today.
I rang Viesmann and they told me to remove to seal which the flaps sits on with knife.
Hopefully this has cured it and I wont have to go back in a cple of months.

Does anyone have a guide on where this flap is? Our boiler is 4 days out of warranty, and has thrown this fault, I was going to call up the guys who serviced it last year and get it serviced again, but I will now ask them to do this also (unless its a pretty straight forward fix? I'm handy with the screw drivers and spammers being an engineer by trade on vehicles etc) it did this once a few months back, but as it was a air pressure switch fault I put it down to the very gusty wind on that day, as when reset it started straight up, this time we have been away for a week and I foolishly turned the boiler off to save a few quid! Doh! Now it's stuck and no amount of resetting will unstick the flap!

cheers

Karl

Reopening thread now it's safely in the private forum.

As far as I'm concerned this reinforces the decision to move all gassy and boiler posts into here out of public view. We've too much searchable history out there!
