Discuss System boiler and plastic 10mm pipes to rads in the Central Heating Forum area at PlumbersForums.net

I am told I need to replace my boiler. I am considering a system boiler so I can lose the tank in the loft and feed it direct from the mains water. My rads are fed by 10mm plastic pipe. Is there much of a pressure increase with a system boiler and will the plastic pipe joints (e.g. John Guest speedfit) cope with it? Thx

yes should be fine providing it’s installed correctly

Most modern/new build properties round here are built with system boilers and 10mm plastic pipes, definitely not my preference but seem to work absolutely fine. Obviously pressurising an open vented system can identify any weak joints etc but usually it goes fine and worse case if there are problems normally they appear straight away when you have plumbers on site.
Just make sure you have enough expansion, may need an additional vessel and definitely clean the system before works commence.
