A good trick I've learnt it if draining down a unvented cylinder with the pressure still in it and the water still on attach your hose and open the drain off and most of the time the pressure will push out the washer. And with a sealed heating system up the pressure slightly and do the same. Don't work every time though.
 
take end off which leaves washer and small hole, which water may come out. get wood screw and screw into washer then at same time pull and washer normally comes out with wood screw then put end back till drained down and then change washer.
 
A rubble bag in a rubble bag just incase, a threaded screw, screw it into the washer pull it out and quickly, put the end back in and hose on.
 
Yeah, I would like to know too. You can buy them in 22mm (only ever seen them on the internet) but they're not cheap.
