stright through bottle trap

Hi all.I have customer complaining of smells from the basin,Ive had a look and it has a stright through bottle trap on it.
Are these as good as standard P traps.
The waste pipe comes through the wall just above skirting board so i cant see anything else fitting.
Like this one.

Im not sure if its one of the type that has a rubber flat tube thing inside rather than a water trap but if it is the rubber could be kept open by a blockage and letting smell past

they normally have a colapsable mebrane inside them

If poss just replace like for like

suggest you change it for Mcalpine model straight through anti syphon model no...x10v you may need to extend pipework slightly as may be shorter regards turnpin

Negative pressure sucking the trap dry ? Fill trap , fill bath then empty bath and listen to trap
