Hi bit of a weird issue, I installed a grohe bathroom tap successfully 2 months ago bought from screwfix.

Last week the right hand hot tap makes a squeak noise as I turn it on or off, left tap is 100% perfect and noiseless.

This grohe tap is like one unit, so no screw notch or way I can remove the top tap handle to check underneath but I did try to spray some clear water to get rid of the squeak noise but no luck.

Any ideas on what to do?

Video of the issue attached

Oh dear, that would be mildly frustrating. My dogs wondered what the squeak was when I played the video. I am sure someone will come along soon with a solution for you!

Got a very bad feeling the way to open this grohe tap to get to the cartridge is underneath, which means removing half the bathroom cabinet and panels to get to it which is a nightmare.

manual for this tap is vague no entry points either but its this model here or Grohe Start Loop Deck-Mounted Bath/Shower Mixer Chrome

If anyone has any idea, please let me know.

Tried emailing grohe also looks like there’s limescale on that side of the handle where as the other one there’s non so that could be rubbing making the squeak ?

Cheers, yeah have emailed grohe support but they usually take a week or so to respond so still waiting on them.

Yes I live in a heavy limescale area, I have since cleaned it and squeak is still there. I think maybe the cartridge on the inside is bad or some dirt or limescale on the inside or maybe it needs a bit of grease, it feels like something is rubbing on it causing that.

I will update if I ever figure it out.

One guy reckons these new grohe taps you simply pull the top handle off but I did try this but it feels firm on there so am hesitent to do this in case I break it.

Grohe Tech leaflet (assuming I've got the correct BauEdge one) says the handles pull off.
Explains how to change the cartridge on page 2.

thanks a lot, could not see that fuller manual at all your one has actual text and guide lines. Also noticed it mentions to use grease, which I think may fix the squeak.

I am assuming I just lift the tap handle upwards then, I think though I will wait for grohe to get back to me via email just in case since I did apply a fair bit of force the other day and it did not lift up but if grohe tech support say it just lifts up then I will use he-man strength to do so.

Gave it a good pull with 2 hands and it just popped off. Bit of a flaff to put it back on, you have to turn the round tap bit underneath to on so water comes out then try to line it up properly but it won't just push on in any direction it has to fall within a line almost (which is not marked) its something you have to feel out and try a few times to notice and get it in the right direction again.

Cartridge is bad though the squeak noise is coming from inside of the cartridge, either way Grohe support are sending out a replacement cartridge so will have it resolved as long as I don't have to break my back again am good with that.

I have a plumber coming tomorrow to change a cartridge on a badly dripping tap on my bathroom mixer unit. There is no separate isolating valve for this tap so I'll have to close the stopcock. I tried closing it today but it won't go absolutely 100% closed and there is still a very slight flow...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
