I bought the a bleed valve from S****fix about a year ago:
s****fix.com/p/radiator-vent-blanking-plug-nickel-2-pack/40972

It worked fine initially, but I noticed that the little bleed screw needed to be turned a little tighter each time I bled that radiator to seal it up again. Having bled it three times since I installed it, I don't think it will seal properly if I ever have to bleed it again, since the screw is now really tight. One review for this particular brand mentioned the same problem.

What are some more reliable brands for radiator bleed valves?

Thank you - looks like I have either been unlucky with the one I bought, or I am overtightening the screw after bleeding the radiator...

I sometimes find there is no visible sign of water droplets around the bleed hole or screw, but a tissue keeps showing up a tiny amount of moisture where the screw enters the valve, even after drying it several times in a 15-minute period to remove any residual moisture.

1) Should I tighten the screw a bit more a this stage, or is such a small "invisible leak" not worth bothering with?

2) And does the answer depend on whether the bleed valve is modern (1/2 inch fitting & rubber seals) or the old type (square-head screw & metal-on-metal seal)?

Close rad valves, pull bleed screw out, add 2 wraps of ptfe on thread, screw back in.

I haven’t looked at what you bought, but can usually be done.

Hi Does anyone recognise the make/brand of the radiator valve. It leaks when closed and Iam hoping I can replace a seal etc?
