had a potterton apollo boiler installed recently. i keep the system on a timer, so the heat goes on at certain times and hot water is available when i want it. when the heat is off i have noticed a regular 'flushing' sound which lasts only 30-60 seconds or so. this flushing sound occurs every twice an hour or so, even heard it during the night.

Air in the system?

hmmm quite possible. i have to boost the pressure as it slowly dips into the red (takes a few weeks to get there). this also suggests that there is air in the system, i assume???

Have you tried bleeding the radiators?
You may need to call back the installer to check things over
