The problem i am going to have is i am up grading to a pressurised system with a cylinder.

i cant change the pipes downstairs because hall, kitchen is tiled and front room is screeded.

please can anyone tell me how downstairs will perform if left please,

not very well consider new 2 pipe drops to the down stairs rads

It will work but as Dans said "not very well", also your more likely to suffer from leaks from pressurising the old pipe work thats under the concrete.
Its worth a try, what have you got to lose? if it doesnt work then youve only got to replace it anyway.
