Went on HMS Belfast on Saturday. ( very good)
took a couple of pics of the boiler room. Here is one of the 2 steam boilers that drive the steam turbine engines.

Proud to say she was built by Harland and Wolff. To think that she was just a "light cruiser"! Plenty of history with her.
Glad that she was kept as a museum ship and not scrapped, unlike nearly every Royal Navy ship including every large battleship. Wish we still had some of the bigger battleships to see. Shame in the past that scrap value was all that mattered.
For anyone interested, on the same subject, - no WW1 actual British Battleships remain today as all that had survived were eventually scrapped, - with the exception of one light cruiser HMS Caroline, which is also a floating museum ship, docked at Belfast. Recently refurbished and still has its original engines. Still a fair size of a ship (over 420 ft) and the only survivor of WW1 battle of Jutland.
