Hi guys,

Water has been leaking through the ceiling below the bath. For a while the plug has coroded and the pipe underneath the bath is loose.

We have a twist handle pop-up and I'm guessing if I need to change the plug (and fix the pipe below) I need to replace the whole black mechanism? I'm really not bothered about the twist mechanism and would be happy to have a standard plug but just need some advice about attaching the pipe below the bath to the bath itself.

Many thanks for helping a noob. IMG_20161229_102657.jpgIMG_20161229_102708.jpgIMG_20161229_102727.jpgIMG_20161229_102743.jpg

The waste pipe with screw into the new bath waste.

Am I miss something?

It'll screw on as it screws off

I don't think the black pipe went through the bath. there's no thread for screwing on the metal plug part either *shrug*

Ok but I'm not sure how the underneath black pipe attached to the bath. It was not attached when I removed the plug so could it be that it was glued/puttied to the underneath of the bath and that it came away, hence the leaks?

Ok so I bought a new pop up plug waste but where the hole on the bath is positioned for the overflow, the two screws from the water pipes are in the way so it's about 5mm out of position.

Any ideas?IMG_20161229_151809.jpg

You can bend them pipes a bit (take it slow and just get enough to fit )

also so if you want to you can cut them threads thick glove and a hacksaw blade 24tpi and take your time not to nic the copper
