We had to do Risca (Cardiff) & then Bridgewater yesterday and back to Lancashire
500 miles or so

Tanked with derv at TESCO Southport £110.00 all we could get was 65mph

The tank was EMPTY at RISCA ! filled up again - Then the the trannie took off
as we know it does its a 6 speed special - 75/85 plus all day long got back on £78.00

How do I approach tesco - their derv is rubbish :90:

I've been told supermarket chains do cheaper diesel over the winter because they delay putting in the winter additives to keep the fuel coat down, but it has an adverse effect on some vehicles, I've been told to stick to the bigger players

I wouldn't bother, I'd just be gratefull your vans ok.

My eldest lad does paving so is running up and down country all the time. He avoids the supermarkets as he just doesnt get the performance or mpg from their fuel. Ive tried it a couple of times but im only doing 10k a year so its not as big an issue.

I do a lot of miles, and can't tell the difference.

There are lots of threads on various forums about it.

Yeah I avoid supermarket fuel... I heard when fuel is sold that bp, shell and the big players get the top of the fuel... And supermarkets get the cheaper stiff from the bottom of the big tanks with higher water content!

Not sure if its true, but there was a tesco near me a few years ago that had wrecked a lot of Diesel engines they all broke down a few miles away including a work van for the firm I worked with! I stay away from it. Not risking that in my van for a few pennies...!

A good question lame - we as a small part of our business have a contract servicing and
fitting machines for a local company - my friend owns it - so we go all over uk 2x per week
and get paid top rate even when driving - the install/de-install/service takes 1 hr - it is
quite specialist work.

So me and my boys could run from Formby to Aberdeen work for 1 hr and rtn 2x fellas per truck or do Croppie country in one day 2/3 jobs and back on the last ferry Belfast- Stranrare thats
03.00am - 22.30 -

when I retire I will offer this contract on here it is a good one Centralheatking
how do you earn a living being on the road so long?

As said I'd stick to big guns, Tesco I always avoid though.

Very similar to me CHK. My wife used to look after a number of care homes and I got contract for all gas and non emergency plumbing work. Furthest north in Aberdeen, some in NI and some near Penzance.
