I have a none thermo mixer tap with a shower attachment, it has a mechanical lever which switches from shower to tap but it appears to be faulty ie when swiched to shower there is still maybe 40% coming out from the tap.
Any ideas how to fix this problem would be appreciated

Is it a victorian style one with the lever that switches left and right to redirect the flow? if so, sometimes the lever which has a rod on the back slips out of the slot that it slides in which moves a plastic shuttle that in turn diverts the flow. Sometimes you can re engage the rod and tighten the screw behind the faux ceramic label which stops the rod slipping out of the slot. Sometimes the rod has plain broken altogether which generaly means new mixer.
