Ive tried quite a few but cant say if that was one of em. Im a bit inundated with calls and emails from em all lol.
But that was far and away less than the rest. And its provided by a big name....

I would gladly pay a bit extra to not be with axa, they had me for about 10 grand over 10 years and wouldn't pay out £300 for a carpet because it was damaged in the wrong way...
Granted it was home insurance but £80/month for 10 years then refusing my one and only claim in all that time because of a silly technicality really grated my cheese!
The technicality was that my 3 year old son knocked over an open tin of paint, if it had been me or a pet they would have paid out, seriously wtf?!?
*rant over*

Hmm i cant say. This is liability to be fair the small print is much of a muchness. For 200 quid more im getting nothing - just the same terms of warfare.

I just renewed mine with tradesman saver. £2 million with hot works. £86 for the year. I paid in full. Very happy

Mine was due last June, can't remember exactly what I paid but it was a lot more than everyone else by the look of it
I was paying about £50 per month which included emp liability as well for an apprentice, he's gone now, so hope it will go down considerably
Never claimed and think I have around 15 yrs no claims

if your paying £86 for 32mil I would seriously check the excess and small print, far far too cheap imho to be worth having, simply business were similar, excess £2500!!!!

Nope. £500 excess. I checked it all before I bought it.

Any thing that is too cheap wont pay when you need it, I tend to use a specialist broker ie courtprice, normal cover for 2mil and some tools is always over £500 but excess around £200, covers all hot work, heights to 3 story, hotels, office and schools for domestic situations ie under 70kw.

As with al the cheaper covers, you find out what isnt covered when you claim, just like cheap motor policies. They only have to find one thing you didnt adhere to , for the policy to be invalidated. How many of you out there carry a fire ext in with you when working? or carry out end of day procedures post burning and fire watch policy, dont learn the hard way!!

I'm happy with mine. Ive had enough of searching. Its noticeably lower than the average i was getting with a 500 excess so i will stick with it....

86 seems great but does seem very very low - did that include gas and hot work etc ???

This is a specialist in tradesman insurance. Basic cover for essentials. £2 million Third part damage, £100,000 legal cover. Ive never claimed before so maybe that helps. I'm covered so I'm happy.

i see they say they use Lloyds of London , a name you can trust :) its the small print that needs to be perused to see what isnt covered as with all policies.

I have a feeling your set in your ways about this. I've been through the small print and it compares to my previous insurer of which I payed £450 for the year. What else can I do? I guess I'll find out if I have to claim.

just seen what happens with other tradesman who have gone for the cheapest cover, when the lad claimed every excuse under the sun came out and he never got any help. for years I used the NFU for motor cover, as a lad I claimed a few times, no issues or problems, then I helped my kids get cover, went for the cheapest and when one got her car totalled by another driver, we had to sue that driver ourselves to recoup the cost as the insurers just went 50/50 and told us to sling it. As it was we won, got the money but no help fm the insurers, there is a reason they are cheap, so your dead right about set in my ways, you have to pay for a decent insurer, end of.

That's all well in good you saying that but how do you actually know they won't pay if I claim. I actually got recommended to them by somebody on this very site.

All insurers are the devils in disguise.
Im under no illusion that if they are misled or misinformed they will not pay out.
If your claim meets the small print - they will.
Ive never had an issue ever with the cheapest.
Only one ever was a GAP policy where my insurer paid out in about 4 days (money in my bank) but the GAP twisted and moaned because the supplying dealer didnt absolutely fully complete the sales invoice and they were trying to say it was fraudulent. Bizarre to say the least but a complaint to the then FSA remedied it in my favour very fast.

Id say 100% of the time insurers wont pay out is because people didnt read the small print (people i know - edit)

other little trick they use is to wack things up if you change the policy, simply business increased my excess from £250 to £2500 when I added a works experience lad to the policy years back, and refused to go back to the original contract when I didnt take the lad for obvious reasons. The problem with cheap policies is they are taking the same risks as more expensive insurers, but not getting the income. Of course when you claim, your premiums rocket, but you cant swap insurers for a year or so as new ones wont take you on!!

Thanks for the advice lame. I'm always open to advice. Could you
let me know your insurer through message for the future so I don't get caught out. Cheers mate

Well out of curiosity tradesman saver came in at £245.00.
So axa provide the same level of cover for considerably less, no doubt im not paying for a small brokers running costs...
