I used to buy lead paks from Ashworth Frazer but they no longer stock them.
A lead pak was like a lead lock , but sturdyer construction with a big brass clamp( rather than a brass grab ring) and a much thicker rubber washer. They never failed me.
Also here in Leeds many lead pipes are bigger than 1/2" 7Lb but smaller than 3/4" 9 . lead paks were made in 1/2" 9lb which fitted perfectly without filing half of the lead away . Also suitable on hot water and not bulky like the grippas/ universal philmacs.

Question is, where can I get some?
