wonder if someone can offer a little advice.

I fitted a new kitchen tap for an elderly couple two - three weeks ago real pig of a job but got there eventually.

All was was fine and I went on my way. Just received a call from customer today saying that tap had come loose on sink, no problem I thought. Quick call back to sort. Customer then tells me that it worked loose on about the first day and he thinks has been leaking underneath ever since. As a result he reckons water has got under his wood flooring.

What is my recourse here. I would have had no problem going back to this job the next day just to nip the tap up again but the customer has left it three weeks along with the drip. Surely I can't fix something if I don't know about it?

I'm reluctant to offer my insurance for this if the drip has caused damage but am a little confused as to where I sit legally.

Any thoughts appreciated

cheers

Matt

My gut instinct is you that you are right to limit your liability in this case. It seems strange to wait 3 weeks or so if you know there is a drip or the tap has worked loose before calling the person back who did the work.

I would explain the situation to him and offer to go back and fix the drip but I would not be giving public liability insurance details if it was me given that he knew there was a drip and chose to wait.

Thanks croft. That was my thinking too. To be fair they were a nice couple but you know how things change. I'm going back Monday to sort but just wanted it clear in my head before then.

This damage could have been caused by the old tap. He may not have noticed it before. What did you see?

Old yins can be just as fly as anyone else!! They are not all honest!

You talk sense Duncan as I say, no ones mentioned insurance but I just wanna be prepared

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
