Hi Davy,

Get the right advice you require off the relevant authority's - which may require numerous phonecalls and finding the right person to speak to.
Don't take what the first, second or third different person you speak to as gospel, keep trying until you find a person who meets your requirements.

Next - if you have to go to College - hit your 'old man' up for the fees and promise to pay him back.

That's what parents are for!!!!!

Cheers oz-plumber. I'll make a few phone calls this week and post what I find out incase anyone's interested.

Welcome, please keep us posted!

Ok it turns out some form of off the job training by a college or training provider is essential. The confusing thing is that a cat 3 entrant is required to do one of these courses which turns them into a cat 2 entrant so essentially there is no such thing as cat 3. Anyway, the details are in the acs guidance note 8. The list of approved courses which will allow you to sit acs exams is given in acs GN 8 appendix 1 if anyone is interested. Just Google it and you'll find it. Also, it turns out any of the bpec courses qualify you as a cat 2 entrant. Thanks to all that helped.
