Hi everyone,

Sorry for the dramatic title, I am not standing in 4ft of water. I am looking for some work / work-experience at a plumber's mate / apprentice level.

I recently completed my City & Guilds Level 2 Tech Cert at The Plumbing Academy, Edenbridge (the UK’s first privately run college to be approved by City & Guilds, with some top-notch teachers.) I took this 5 month, full-time, intensive course as I want to change careers.

I may only have had classroom plumbing experience to date but I do have a talent for it and I can guarantee I am hard working, dedicated and a fast learner. I also have my own hand tools, power tools and transport. I was self-funded through my training and have set aside the money for the NVQ which I am eager to begin when I find work.

If anybody here is, or knows of someone, who would be willing to give me a trial I would be happy to work for free until you deem me to be of use just to gain on-the-job experience. I'd be interested even if you could only offer one or two shifts.

My name is Ryan, I am 29 and I live in Worthing. W Sussex, but am happy to travel to the right employer (I did afterall do the 90 mile daily round trip from Worthing to Edenbridge for 5 months for the chance to learn plumbing)

I'd appreciate any interest or any suggestions and feedback.

Thank you!

Hi Ryan
just a thought but have you tried finding out which companies are doing the east sussex county council/ council maintenence contracts in Worthing & Brighton. These companies still seem to have ongoing work. Try giving MBM services in Brighton a ring they will prpbably let you know or help you. Also ask the estate managers at Sussex uni & uni of Brighton who has their contracts.
Good luck fella.

HI Ryan, how have you got on? Could you throw me a bone please I need some guidance with the city and guilds level 2 write ups, who knows if you did the same assesments but as I'm dislexic I'm really struggling with them as the course is finished but I still have to complete the portfolio. Can you help at all? it would be much appreciated.
yours sincerely

Thanks Dave, that sounds like a clever avenue. Do you know of any other projects that are ongoing?

Hi FatherJack, would these be the write-ups to accompany practical tasks? Sort of a 1 side of A-4, bullet-point summary. I don't remember doing any others. Yeah let me know what you're finding difficult and I'd be happy to help. And you'll no doubt get many a pointer from others here too. Fire away..

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
