Hi,

looking for some advice/pointing in the right direction. We’ve got a glow worm betacom 24c combi boiler, installed by the last owners. Doing some research it seems as though they cheaped out.

Having an issue where the boiler is making a loud groaning/ howling sound when running hot water. It is absolutely fine on central heating, can only hear the pump, nothing out of the ordinary. We don’t know any local boiler specialists, and are struggling to get any help. The one person we spoke to told us we should just buy a new boiler from him as the call out fee would be several hundred pounds with no guarantee of fixing the problem - all this from a 30 second video of the sound. I was sceptical, hence looking for some help.

I’ve uploaded the video to YouTube...

Initially the hot water would cycle hot and cold (well lukewarm and cold)but this has been cured by a new thermistor. Hot water is now consistent and hot, but the noise remains.
