Hi all

At work today I've seen a flue come from a downstairs kitchen, through the ceiling and bedroom floor and then elbow outside. Is that even legal?

I was there plumbing and it caught my eye seemed very strange and maybe against regs.

If it's supported, has a fire plate through ceiling, has means of inspection if anything is boxed in, appropriate clearances to combustible materials blah blah blah then yes.....as long as it's not somewhere likely to be damaged like the middle of the room lol

It was more the section of flue between the ceiling and upstairs floor.

Can be viewed by removing plate or boards?

As long as total effective flue length is within mi. BG fitted 240 with 9m of flue on mates house......

Are the flue plates a must? Or could you just bored right upto the flue? I've only seen my gaffer fit one of them.

There has to be a gap between the flue and any combustible materials. IF the plasterboard is fire rated, then it should be ok.
