Hi,

We have a ferroli optimax 38c and have lost our heating :( According to Ferroli even though the boiler is over 2 years old and not serviced last year we are out of warranty. There are no error codes and we have hot water.

Where would be the best place to start to try and fix this problem myself as the call out charge is over £100 and then we have parts + labour on top of that.

hi tariq welcome to the forums. if you put a request in the looking for a plumber/gas safe engineer section giving your general area there may be someone on here who could come and help you.

Hi Tariq ... You could make sure that there is a call for heating first of all. The programmer is on and room thermostat is turned up. Do you have a wireless room thermostat fitted?

Hi, the thermostat seems to be working fine. When I turn it above 15 I can hear the boiler start up and the radiator icon, with the 3 small heat lines above it starts flashing. The thermostat is against the wall in the hallway.

The boiler start up but no heat getting to any of your radiators yeh?

What hapens to the display on the boiler, do you see a temperature displayed and does it start to increase?

Yes displays shows that the heating is on and the temperature shows 66C even though I have set it to 35. Radiators are all cold.

Sounds most deffo like a water flow problem Tariq. If no one has touched the isolation valves underneath the boiler and your radiator are turned on I'd suspect a faulty diverter! You'll need someone GSR to sort it out for you. As suggested, post your general whereabouts here [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas engineer.[/DLMURL] £100 call out is quite high if you ask me.

Thank you so much!!! I have 4 isolation valves with taps under the boiler two blue taps, 1 yellow tap and 1 red tap. I turned the two blue taps so they face away from me and the heating started to work again. My wife must have moved one of the blue taps when she was cleaning it although she claims she never. I have noticed the gauge go to 2.5 bar. How can I take that down to 1.5?

Thanks Again!

you will have to get some water out of the heating system to reduce the pressure. do you have any drain valves under any radiators? just crack one open to let some water out into a suitable container. top back up to about 1bar or just over.
