Do I have to get a sparky in to do the electrics if I'm swapping a boiler? I'm only talking 1 off 1 on no alterations to the electrics, on a complete system I will get someone in but it's just a pain trying to arrange one when I need them.

Have to be honest I've never got someone in unless previous wiring was a mess. Be jealous guys I actually know a sparky that understands wiring for heating systems AND enjoys working on em

Most of the companies I've worked for got me to wire the s/y plans then got a sparks in to test them. But it's more of signing things off do they have to sign off electrics on boiler swaps?

Where i stay there a few one man band sparkys ( older gentlemen ) and none of them have there 17th edition , ( its not well known that they dont by locals but i know ) granted they dont take on any jobs that require signed off so the few sparks that are select approved are raking it in, the guys who arent are still well known in the town and advertise as electricians and the only thing they have is they deem themselves compitent, i think this happens alot so we are as much compitent as these guys, but rules are rules and weve to abide by them ,

you are fine with a straight swap imo. just check the supply is correct and the earth is present, any concerns get a sparks in to test and certifiy.

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

I have an ideal vogue max S18 boiler and I’m considering fitting auto balancing TRVs, my question relates to the boilers pump. I see a boiler pump menu for either 70% or 100%, so, is the pump set at either one of two fixed speed percentages or does the pump actually vary speed, (modulate)...

Hi all, this is probably a daft question but I need to run my cold feed from one side of my wall mounted boiler to the other. Running it beneath the boiler is difficult with lots of obstacles, is it okay if I run soldered copper over / across the top of the boiler? It'll be about 4" off the top...
