Hi Guys,

I live in a flat, a very very old building with 10 ft ceilings. I have an electrastream electric boiler.

Apparently they're meant to be cost effective........nope

I turn mine on for half an hour a day to get some hot water for a shower. I have been turning it on to use the heating too - but it hardly warms up my house for the cost!

At the moment I turn the boiler on for 20minutes then it starts leaking water - hot water - I run a bath and the water isnt really hot. I then turn the boiler off and have a tepid bath...... in a freezing cold flat - not ideal!!

Any ideas how I can stop it from leaking and get me a really nice hot bath...and maybe even a warm flat?!

Thanks

Megs

Electric is not a very cost efficient way of heating, presume you are in a modern building with good insulation but with heating you can not get away from peak rate tariffs which you can with heating just the hot water

But you have the system now however you will require a professional to sort your problems out with the unit by the sounds of it imho, not a bit of kit that should be messed with by an unqualified person,if you are in a block of flats, they may all have this unit, check with block management ,as may have an approved contractor that they can recommend

Thank you for your reply.

I'll get a professional out - management of my flat is as useless as a chocolate tea pot, and she wouldn't help if she could! It did this when i first moved in but i didnt realise and it sorted itself out. but now its cold its started up again.

hardly any insulation - flat is an old factory so i have huge factory windows and no underlay or anything - but i love it so dont want to moan too much :)

Thanks again
