Hi all. Has occurred to me recently how bad a fit every respirator I try on is. When wall chasing etc stuff still gets up my nose even wearing them properly. End up having a cough in the evening after I am wall chasing.

Does anyone know if you can buy these. Price doesn't bother me to be honest. I don't want to be getting crap like plaster dust in my lungs!

Have you tried the 3M respirators, looking on the net it's the 4000 series I use. Find them really good

during my apprenticeship i did loft insulation on the weekends, lagging other peoples work and dropping cealings for builders ect ect
i got the older version of this

JSP PowerCap Active - International Plug

i know it costs a bomb but once you have it you just have to buy the filters from time to time.

no chunks in the eyes either.

Nice bit of kit!

I had had the older model

I used to have an airstream helmet when on the farms, brilliant pieces of kit, nice cool draught over the old mug, helmet and clear eyes. Been meaning to hunt down todays equvalent for ages, especially for attic work!

My dad has those for wood turning, try Axminster.

I looked at that one last night actually. Good to hear a decent review of the old one from you. To be honest as I'm doing quite a lot of wall chasing that sort of thing would be ideal. I've yet to find one of the half mask ones that gets a decent seal on my face. I have a bony ridge on my nose that seems to stop half masks getting a perfect seal.

Do you look like Darth Vader when wearing those masks though??

I think I am going to fork out for the Trend Airshield or the JSP. Reviews online seems to say the new JSP is a bit flimsy and cheap looking and the cartridges don't last. Trend Airshield seems to be the way to go. I think they both work very similar.

The face shield is very much needed too for wall chasing. Eventually one of those bits of brick is going to get in my eye or something otherwise.

the old one the battery pack goes on your belt but the helmet is the same weight, much better built imho.

the airshield looks like a decent bit of kit.

i know when i use it i don't have to worry about my eyes or face even if its angle grinding :)
not to mention the airflow makes lofts so much more comfortable
