I am planning on using a condensing boiler (not combi) in a new installation (no previous CH in an old building) would the new boiler be a sealed system fed by a filling loop directly from the main or would it utilise an F & E tank.(not connecting any gas !)

you decide!! there is that many options out there.think i would install a conventional boiler with a sealed system kit too if i was starting from scratch!!

Smoggs, thanks for the response. The occupant wants a hot water cylinder so a combi boiler is out of the question. Taking into account the energy efficiency regulations a condensing or a system boiler appear to be the answer but i was not sure if either of this needed an F & E tank as with a traditional boiler or whether they can be fed directly from the main water supply via a filling loop therefore becoming a sealed system negating the need for an F & E.

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

I want to reconnect some outbuildings to an existing water supply. The supply pipe is old 22mm MDPE and buried for a fair distance so not going to dig it up and replace it 😬. Question is can I use normal 22mm plumbing push-fit connectors to make the connection as finding 22mm MDPE fittings...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...
