hi,I came into plumbing after some 'work experience ' which I enjoyed.I was in my twenties and wanted a career. After research,I managed to avoid the expensive courses that led nowhere-no opportunity to gain NVQ 2.I did this via the local tech.1 day per week.I had to go self -employed as this qualification is the minimum to seek employment and even then experience is lacking.I have applied knowledge gained and worked within my limitations.I have had some work with other plumbers.I have justed signed up for CG/NVQ 3 in plumbing 1 day a week which should widen and deepen my knowledge.I have done some work on central heating 'as far as the boiler'with a Gas Safe engineer. It is an area which interests me and will take me away from depending on full bathroom refurbs which are rewarding but increasingly difficult to come across.I was wondering if I can do ACS before completing my NVQ 3.If so,I appreciate I would have to work selectively or get an experienced plumber to mentor me.I understand gas is much more lethal than wet plumbing.Basically I am trying to develope my business the right way within the present system.

to get your acs quals you have to complete a portfolio of experience so keep in with your rgi to allow you to do this. if your doing your 6129/nvq3 at college then this should tie in ok so you do the acs part on completion of your tech cert etc. takes time but cheapest way of getting your tickets sorted out imho, and you have time to learn it properly.

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
