Hello :) First of all sorry about the long post, but I want to put as much detail in as I can :)

I have just moved into a property with a Baxi Combi Range 105e, this is the first property I've lived that has a combi so I admit I am very naive about them.

When I run the hot water, it doesn't get very hot. I noticed the pressure gauge was low (just under 1, raising to just over 1 when running) and that the neon light over the flame icon was coming on then going off after 10 seconds or so. It would the stay off for around 30-40 seconds before firing back up and the neon coming back on. This would repeat after being 10 for 10 seconds, the neon would go out, the boiler would sound idle (but the neon over the tap icon would stay on) then fire back up again. I increased the pressure to 1.5 (raising to just under 2 when running) but the problem persists, although not as frequent, maybe going off every 30 seconds or so. I also tried opening the tap flow more to increase pressure there, but the result would be the water was coming out too quick to get heated properly.

I love a hot bath and since I moved in the best I've had is very warm. Either the water gets hot, then goes cold when the neon over the flame goes off, then to get hot again when it turns back on, or I can run everything at full pelt to get the neon to stay on a bit longer, only for the water to not be properly heated.

I've not tried the CH yet as it's just been too warm, and this house is very warm to begin with, so I'm not sure if it does it on that.

Also, does anyone know if the firing up of the boiler several times when I'm running the hot water add to the gas bill?

Sounds like you need a registered gas engineer. post a thread in I'm looking for ...

Thank you. I thought that may be the case but as I say I am new to combi's so didn't want to call anyone in if there was a simple fix :)

Unfortunately not, the most we could advise you to try yourself is topping up the pressure but from what you've said that appears fine.

As Shaun says, we have a sub forum specifically for looking for plumbers and gas engineers, if you post there and remember to include a rough location.

Also offering tea and biccies always goes down well......

And, sorry Sarah, but I'm going to have to close this thread before any technical advice is given. You may not want to try fixing the boiler yourself but someone reading this thread in the future might try and act on it.

The might blow themselves and their goldfish up.

I really, really like goldfish. .......

My son has just had a new boiler fitted and hes noticed that the pump runs 24x7 even when both the heating and hot water are set to off. He’s also found that when the hot water is set to off on the programe timer, the boiler is still heating up water. I wonder if this is because the engineer...

Milky hot water. Recently had a Viessmann 100-W combi boiler installed. Now when the hot water reaches any tap it is very 'milky'. This appears to be micro bubbles and clears, upwards, in a few seconds leaving no residue. Though this is a hard water area in 45 years have never had this cloudy...
