Hi !
new to this forum ..so please be gentle !
problem
  1. rads heat up slow
  2. never totally hot
  3. furthest rad get cold warm cold warm
  4. some rads get hot then cool quickly..
  5. rads are not warming up
  6. outside temp compensator is used
  7. rad circuit set at 22 degrees
following facts.
  1. veismann boiler 66 kw gas
  2. 55 rads in total
  3. basement and 3 floors to cover.
  4. 32 mm pipe reduced to 16 mm at rad outlets.
  5. all fitted with TRVs
  6. 600 h x 1000 m long rads
  7. present pump is a wilo 25/50 pump.

Question./ Solution
  1. what pump would suit best
  2. wilo or grundfos ?
  3. 32 mm - 100 ?
  4. grundfos magna 1 or 3
  5. wilo stratos ?

which is the best solution for a good efficient running system.
thanks

Why do you think it's the pump? Sounds like it needs setting up properly and possibly cleaning out.

Get someone in and spend your money on the right things.

Take weather compensator and throw it as far as you can go find it then smash it to bits throw whatever is left and scatter what you can't throw that should do the trick.

Is the boiler man enough for the job??

You rads are 600 x 1000 and there's 55 of them, assuming there all single panel rads which are around 1KW output each your getting up there not including hot water usage, but if the rads are all double panel double convectors at 1.7ish KW each = over 93KW to the rads not including hot water!!

And assuming you have that many rads you gonna need more than the usual 3kw for hot water I would guess more like 12kw for water??

Just a though!!

Jack,

You need someone to come and look at this system for you, you wont get anywhere here with such questions,
there could be a number of problems all rolled into one, pump size, pipe sizes, balancing, VT programming, don't
enter the guessing game, your head will whiz and you will go deeper in, get someone in, tell them before they come
its a bigger domestic than your normal, then they can make their mind up if it's out of their comfort zone.

There must be a member close to you, have you just moved in???

Tony

PS Jack, does sound like a wind up 55 radiators, lined up they would go half way round Medway??? :38: a system like that
over 4 floors would take some serious balancing, not for those of a nervous disposition and would take some time to do properly
