Hi everyone. My first post here. I am having a combi installed next week by someone I trust and I know he will do a proper installation and power flush etc. Now, I have decided on 2 boilers for our large 4 bedrooms house. I don't want an open system as my wife and I are blind and our talking software on the iPhone works with the stat we will be using on either combi. I am also going with one of the above. Either the Vogue Gen1 or the Baxi platinum.

The boiler is being installed in our downstairs toilet so I like the fact that the Vogue is slightly smaller and perhaps quieter? From what I've read though the baxi maybe more reliable? For us the 10 year warranty is a big factor as we intend to stay in our house for a long time.

I really don't know which way to go with this and I'm almost thinking of tossing a coin!
Reliability and backup are important to us and before anyone asks we're sticking to one of these 2 types. The Platinum is 100 quid more but this doesn't bother me as I have been told good things about both machines.
Pros and cons of each please? BTW, I am having the installation done next week and will have to make my choice rather quickly. My installer and I think it wise to keep away from the new Vogue Gen2 yet as it is untested.
Another thing I am worried about is parts availability after the 10 years is over especially now Ideal have stopped making the Gen1.
Once more, it is just between these 2.

Thanks for any help and understanding. BTW, I'm in the Derbyshire area.

You wont go wrong with either.
I fit both and they are both good dependable units.
The ideal is technically more efficient as it can modulate down lower than the baxi by a fair few Kw.
Just make sure they are serviced annually to keep warranty valid.

By the way, I believe annual servicing of a Combee boiler is essential. We have always done this.

Yes it is advisable for any gas appliance but especially fires - what many seriously neglect to service...so often i go to a new boiler service and when there see a gas fire clinging to life and never been touched in 20 years.....

Controls can make a difference regarding efficiency. Add-ons such as weather compensation and smart controls can save money but it largely comes down to what your comfortable with.

For example id never dream of installing smart controls for my parents (im 46) - they can be complicated to understand and initially expensive for diminishing returns...

I thought it was one or the other...from a choice of 2 ???

You are right Phil I completely misread it

Hello, it would be a choice of one or the other. I would be going for the original Vogue not the new one that came out at the end of last month. Thanks for all replies.
