Hi, Noob here

Struggling with a Baxi Platinum 28HE. a few years ago, the boiler was (almost) completely rebuilt with about 99% new parts. but today, it stopped working with an E133 fault code. I checked the Condensate pipe and it wasnt blocked. I took the front panel off the boiler and it looked a bit damp, so I took the cover plate off to reveal the heat exchanger, expansion tank etc. This level was flooded with water which I then cleaned up. The condensate pipe that is connected to the bottom of the heat exchanger is leaking, it must have some sort of back pressure forcing water back up the pipe. I found the Condensate trap and took the bottom off. it looks like its an original piece left over from the original boiler. It didn't feel particularly tight and when i removed it, I had a lot of water drain out of the system. It had crud in the bottom of it which I cleaned out. I've replaced the bottom of the trap and the boiler works fine.... for the moment...

So, my question is, what would cause water to back up and try and exit the top of the pipe (below the the heat exchanger)? I'm guessing I haven't sorted anything out here, just buying some time as I would assume that the trap will just continue to fill up and eventually back up again until i can determine why its happening. Should i remove the entire trap? it doesn't look to difficult. I'm also not sure if its supposed to be primed or whatever??

any thoughts?

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Every two weeks or so I have to go and top up the system because the hot taps are running cold. Boiler display is flashing 0.6 bar and I fill up to 1.3. I've had an engineer look inside the boiler and he can't see anything wrong. I've checked the pipes all over the house and cannot see any...

Hello all, I'm would like to extend an existing outside tap to another point in the garden. I'm about to pour a concrete patio and was hoping to run the water line underneath. There are existing drain (and who knows what) pipes running along the same wall so I'm nervous about digging too far...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
