Hi all

Im doing a boiler change fitting a Ideal Logic Combi 35.

The room stat is in the hallway with door to living room, Iv fitted trvs on all rads as there isnt a rad in the hallway or landing.

The manuf/ instructions say that a bypass comes built in as standard, but turning over the page it also says "if trvs are fitted

on all rads a bypass must be fitted"

I would say not to fit one as it says there is one..

What are your opinions?

Thanks

The inbuilt bypass is not enough if all rads have TRVs fitted. You're likely to cause the pump to fail prematurely. To comply with part L the stat should be in the same room as a radiator with no TRV fitted.

ok cheers! i could move the stat to the living/dinning room but there would be 3 rads without trvs and the customer said she wants trvs on them.

It is a bit of a compromise but leave the biggest lounge rad without the trv and fit the stat in there.

Have you explained to the customer that a thermostat does the same job as a TRV and also turns the boiler off when the room is up to temperature; saving her MONEY?

Tamz suggestion is a good compromise (stat in living room, 2 rads with TRV, one without)
