i have just got a v plate vauxhall combo without a side loading door which i need to ply line and build some racking in the rear.

it has a a metel cage/mesh bulk head but would like a wooden one as it would make it a bit easyer to put some racking up across the back and down one side also it would make it harder for people to see into the rear.

but where to start?

do i need to take the mesh bulk head out or can i put the new one over it ?

also what thickness of ply should i use for the walls and floor?

then i will just need to build the shelfs or would storage tubs with lids be better
any help and photos of your setup would be a good help thanks

i will also be needing to install a split charge systum at a later date but will come to that when the time comes

heres what i done with mine as a idea its also a small van astra,i took out the bulk head guard and replaced it with 3/4 ply, used 7x1 to make the shelves

looks the kind of thing i am after i quess i could reuse the bolts that came out of the metel bulk head but what size would you use to screw the ply to the sides of the van

i used 3/4 self tappers but went in to the strengthening pillers,in my case with the shelving i used large angled brackets, you could probably use 12mm ply on the sides

Personally I would just buy a ply lining kit for the floor, sides and doors. May be a little more pricey but its all cut to size and saves lots of time. 3/4" ply for the bulk head or if using 1/2" support it with some 2x1" framing.

Racking pics from my van, Transit Connect.
