working pressure at the meter check

Got three working pressure at the meter checks to do for my portfolio,is this just connecting your ugauge up to the meter with the appliance running? Can it be any appliance? I started to confuse myself and think maybe i got to find a appliance that hasnt got a test nipple on the appliance,any replies would be grateful.

if you use a cooker/hob you only turn on 3 of the rings to measure meter working pressure
