1978 now - my first motor was a MK 1 Ford Lotus Cortina reg KDF 521E
an absolute beast cost me £220 when an average wage was £30 a week
I was 20 years old and silly.

I totalled it around a big tall lampost at junct 11 m4 reading one night
absolutely hammered but still drove it home -woke up next morning
with no recall -anyway CHK

Hilman hunter "1725 super" DSM244L
got it for £25 ! Was rotten, had a puncture and jacked it up. It went up at first, then came back down as the jack went trough the floor.
driving down the motorway the near side wing hinged open amd fell off.

sold it for £30 scrap. £5 profit!

WPO542K silver 1100 Mk 1 escort, ordered by plod to take it off the road after handbrake test by plod failed, he pushed fm the front and his oppo told me to take my foot off the foot brake, as I knew the handbrake was not that good!, Soooooooo one good shove and back we rolled into a Rover 2.3? jam sandwich and took out the head and fog lights and left a big dent :) Seems they couldnt claim against me as they had ordered me to take my foot off the brake pedal, but I found it impossible to take my motor on the roads thereafter as I kept being pulled over!!! I didnt worry about any damage to my little motor as the only good panel was the roof :):):)
