Hi,

I recently opened the packaging of a new wood cutting semicircular cutter

for my Dewalt multicutter tool. As I was recycling the packaging, I came across this black piece of metal taped to the card in the packaging.

I have no idea what it is for and the impression I get is that I do not need it. But what is it?

Anyone else come across this?

That's the thing you throw out with the packaging after failing to read the list of included items, then sometime later realise your missing something and have to empty the bin to check all the packaging.

I've never seen or had one of said woodcutter devices, but to me that piece looks like it may lock the blade or guard or shield, if there is one, in a variety of fixed positions.

It’s an adapter for a different holder normally for older tools

Very funny, Snowhead. Unfortunately for the theory, the original tool came with a similar cutter with no such black thing and I can already lock the cutter in various positions. I think Shaun is correct, but I think you are saying if I put it in my scrap metal bin, I may then discover it has a use?

That makes sense. As the cutter it came with works perfectly with the tool I have.

This is the only blade / kit that I've seen that shows what you have and seems to be described as a universal adapter.
