Can anyone tell me if it is a regulation to fit an isolator valve to a toilet cistern? My plumber has fited a back-to-the-wall and sealed it behind a workstop and panelling. If I get a leak I can't get to the cistern - is this illegal? Thanks for any help

It's not mandatory if fitting one is impractical. If you undo the screws of a back to wall cistern and slide it forwards you will usually find the isolator behind.

I'll disagree here. It is mandatory to fit one but no mention is made about the accessibility of the valve. Any float operated valve should be fitted with an isolation valve under the water regs.

I asked the building inspector about this a couple of years ago and the answer I got was that it's not always possible but you should always try to fit one if you can.

It's good practice but not mandatory if the valve is not easily accessible at least that's what is acceptable here but different county's building inspectors have thee own ideas in some things
