I have water leakage under the kitchen sink where I have a trap. If water is flowing freely and not rushing this is OK, but if their is a sudden rush of water it leaks out from the top of the trap which has a vent in it. How do I fix this ?

Do you mean it's coming from your unused washing machine connector?

as Chris says , its probably a unused appliance drain connector, however it could be a anti-vac valve that's broken/damaged if it is, you will have to replace all the trap. A picture will get you an answer.
